I even end up deleting the dll's/vst system files or move them into a Quarantine folder if I have to unrender/unfreeze a lot of tracks to be able to work at all (a bit better than "constrain delay compensation", a feature in Cubase that will turn off hungry plugins to cut latency but it lead to a bug of some plugins remaining turned off after switching it off)Ĭlick to expand. So I'll be the odd man out here. Thanks but I'm already using all means to reduce the load. Really trying to avoid groups since it makes things messy and sometimes Cubase seems to forget channel routing after disabling tracks. I've considered groups for heavy plugins but it would end up getting problematic if it's too many (I'd need several copies of each for different settings) and I can't quickly render/freeze those. but of course it's hard to work like that when 70-80% of tracks end up rendered before the track is close to finished. I have a 1800 tracks template with disabled tracks only. I even end up deleting the dll's/vst system files or move them into a Quarantine folder if I have to unrender/unfreeze a lot of tracks to be able to work at all (a bit better than "constrain delay compensation", a feature in Cubase that will turn off hungry plugins to cut latency but it lead to a bug of some plugins remaining turned off after switching it off) So if its ambitious to hope for something around 30% in reduction of audio performance load at a similar buffer I forget about it and focus on other stuff.Ĭlick to expand. Thanks but I'm already using all means to reduce the load. Besides that I'd have no use for it - I'd for instance never record anything with it. Performance of big midi + audio projects Cubase is the ONLY reason I even consider a different interface. Almost as much as the most powerful machine I can assemble at Scan. Now looking at a Fireface UFX II or another highly ranked one. This exact model isn't listed but other Steinberg ones aren't too high on the list here Pretty cheap and certainly far from the best. My current one is Steinbergs Ur22C powered by the Yamaha USB Driver. So I'm wondering how much relief I could get (if any) from a better interface. If I bypass a lot of the heaviest ones the load reduces by about a half despite the project still being a monster. It's nothing that can be fixed, it's just about my crazy plugin usage. My computer is very powerful, custom configuration ordered at Scan with a 14 core i9 from 2 years ago. The usual thing with the Cubase audio performance meter spiking to 100% despite being at 2048 samples latency + stable mode (highest possible buffer on the driver) I have a huge audio overload issues due to my monster projects (up to 500 tracks with some of the most hungry plugins ever and tons of them) and curious if a better audio interface could reduce the overload. Total noob question, I never really considered that for years.
